Bonilla’s field goal caps a patient final drive

Utah State had just tied the game at 17 with about eight minutes remaining. Texas State responded with a 13-play drive that used roughly six minutes of clock. Bonilla then converted from 37 yards with 1:56 left to put the Bobcats ahead for good.

It was Bonilla’s second made field goal of the game. He also connected from 51 yards earlier in the fourth quarter, giving Texas State a 17–9 lead. For a team that scored 66 points the week before, this Homecoming win came through a more deliberate, lower-scoring effort. Jenkins’ kickoff return gives Texas State an early spark

Special teams made an impact well before the final drive. Jaylen Jenkins returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, giving Texas State an explosive score in a game where both defenses limited the opposing offenses.

Jenkins finished with 146 kickoff-return yards on four returns. The 100-yard touchdown was the second kickoff-return score of his career, tying him for second in program history. Bonilla also converted both of his extra-point attempts.
