Basketball

UCLA’s basketball team is one of the most successful in the country, with 11 NCAA championships to their name. The team is currently coached by Steve Alford and plays their home games at Pauley Pavilion.

Football

UCLA’s football team is one of the most successful in the country, with 13 conference championships and 11 national championships. The team is currently coached by Jim Mora Jr. and plays their home games at Rose Bowl Stadium.

Track and Field

UCLA’s track and field team is one of the most successful in the country, with 7 NCAA championship titles. The team is coached by Jim Bush and competes in various events such as sprinting, middle-distance running, long-distance running, hurdling, jumping, and throwing.

UCLA’s intramural sports program offers students the opportunity to compete in a variety of team sports. Popular intramural sports at UCLA include basketball, football, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee. There is also a wide range of individual and dual sports offered through the intramural program. UCLA students can sign up for intramural sports through the campus recreation website.

UCLA’s Physical Education Classes

In order to graduate, UCLA students must complete two physical education (PE) classes. All students must complete the same core class, Foundations of Physical Activity (1 unit). In addition to the core class, students must complete one additional 1-unit activity course from the list below. If a student has a documented physical or mental disability, an alternate course may be substituted with prior approval from the Disability Services Center.

UCLA’s Sports Medicine

UCLA offers a world-class array of sports medicine services to student-athletes, club sports members, intramural participants and the general public. The program began in 1954 with just two full-time staff members and has grown to more than 60 physicians, surgeons, physiologists, nutritionists, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches and physical therapists. Our staff provides comprehensive care for all types of injuries and illnesses, with a focus on prevention, early diagnosis and treatment. We offer a full range of services, from primary care to highly specialized surgery. Our goal is to help you stay healthy and active throughout your life.
