Introduction

Texas Woman’s University sports teams are known as the Pioneers. The university is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II and competes in the Lone Star Conference (LSC).

The university sponsors eleven men’s sports teams: baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, track and field (indoor and outdoor), and volleyball.

The Pioneers have won twelve NCAA Division II national championships: five in basketball (1981 men’s, 1982 men’s, 1983 men’s, 1984 men’s, and 1985 men’s), four in softball (1982 women’s, 1983 women’s, 1984 women’s, and 1985 women’s), two in bowling (1982 women’s and 1983 women’s), and one in volleyball (1984 women’s).

Men’s Basketball

The Texas Woman’s University men’s basketball team is the basketball team that represents Texas Woman’s University, located in Denton, Texas, in the NCAA Division I women’s basketball competition. The Owls compete in the Southland Conference.

Men’s Cross Country

Texas Woman’s University Men’s Cross Country team is a NCAA Division II program that competes in the Lone Star Conference. The team is coached by Ryan Dall and consists of student-athletes from all over the United States.

Men’s Golf

The Men’s Golf team at Texas Woman’s University won their first conference championship in school history on April 23, 2017. The Pioneers shot a combined score of 883 (+19) to edge out second place Midwestern State by one stroke and finish 15 strokes ahead of third place Cameron. It was a wire-to-wire victory for the Pioneers, as they held at least a share of the lead after each of the first three rounds.

Men’s Soccer

In their last game of the regular season, the Texas Woman’s University men’s soccer team faced a strong Oklahoma Baptist team. The Pioneers played tough, but ultimately fell 0-2. TWU ended their season with an 8-9 record overall and a 4-6 conference record.

Men’s Tennis

The TWU men’s tennis team is off to a great start in their 2019-2020 campaign as they currently boast an impressive 8-1 record. The team’s only loss came against No. 23 Florida Tech in a very tightly contested match. The Pioneers have since bounced back with seven straight wins, including a 5-4 victory over then-No. 17 ranked West Florida. The team is currently led by junior Simon Felix, who is ranked No. 1 in the nation in singles play with a perfect 8-0 record.
