He has extensive experience working with athletes of all levels, from youth to collegiate to professional. Chad will be a great asset to our team and we are looking forward to working with him.

Introduction
Chad Jones, a certified consultant by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), joins the Sport Psychology Team at Texas Tech University. Chad has worked with professional, collegiate, and Olympic athletes from a variety of sports. His love for working with athletes began when he was a collegiate athlete himself.
Chad Jones’ credentials
Chad Jones, a former professional baseball player, has been hired as a sport psychologist by Texas Tech.
Jones, who played for the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants, will work with the Red Raiders’ baseball, softball, tennis and track & field teams.
“I’m really excited to be joining the Texas Tech family,” Jones said. “I’ve always been impressed with the commitment that the university has to its athletics programs and I’m looking forward to working with the student-athletes to help them reach their full potential.”
Jones, who has a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Southern California, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He has worked with professional athletes from a variety of sports, including baseball, football, basketball, golf and hockey.

Chad Jones’ Role on the Texas Tech Sport Psychology Team

How Jones will help the team
Jones will serve as a Sport Psychology Consultant for the Texas Tech Department of Athletics. He will also provide support for those dealing with injury, eating disorders and other personal issues.

Jones comes to Texas Tech from Mississippi State University, where he served as a Sport Psychologist in the Athletic Department’s Mental Training Program. He also worked as a Graduate Assistant in MSU’s Counseling Center.
