Nicole M. LaVoi, Ph.D., is the associate director of the Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport, a joint initiative of the College of Education and Human Development and the Intercollegiate Athletics Department at the University of Minnesota. Dr. LaVoi also is an affiliate faculty member in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development in the UMN College of Education and Human Development and an affiliate faculty member in Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies. Martinez began his career in the sports industry as an intern with the Houston Astros, and he eventually rose to become the team’s director of clubhouse operations. After several years with the Astros, Martinez decided to pursue his masters degree in sport management from Texas Tech.
After completing his degree, Martinez took a job with the Los Angeles Dodgers as their director of player development. Dr. Eric Wood is one of the Co-Founders and Program Directors of the Texas Tech Sport Management Masters program. He is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and Leadership. Dr. Wood has worked in the sport management field since 1994 in a variety of capacities including: collegiate athletics (The University of Texas at Tyler, Boston College, Stony Brook University), minor league baseball (Binghamton Mets, Aberdeen IronBirds, Hudson Valley Renegades), and high school athletics (Whitney Young High School). He has also been an independent consultant for a number of clients including: MLB, Nike, Reebok, Major League Soccer, and USA Triathlon. Dr. Wood’s research interests center on fan behavior, marketing mix modeling/sport consumer decision-making, and facility/event management. He has authored or co-authored over 60 scholarly articles which have appeared in journals such as: International Journal of Sport Management and Marketing, Journal of Sport Management, Sport Marketing Quarterly, Journal of Service Research, and Event Management.
Ms. Stephanie Boone is an alumna of Texas Tech University’s Sport Management Masters program. Stephanie graduated from Texas Tech in 2012 with her degree in Sport Management. While at Texas Tech, Stephanie was an active member of the Sport Management Association, where she served as president for two years. Stephanie is currently employed as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management at West Virginia University.
