Texas State has a long and proud tradition of athletics, dating back to its days as a frontier settlement. Today, the Lone Star State is home to some of the most competitive collegiate sports teams in the nation. The Texas State Bobcats compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and are members of the Sun Belt Conference.

Texas State Football
Texas State football began in 1904, making it one of the first collegiate football programs in the state of Texas. The program has seen much success over its 115-year history, winning conference championships and bowl games. In recent years, Texas State has become known for its exciting brand of football, setting school records for offensive production. The team plays its home games at Bobcat Stadium, located on the Texas State campus in San Marcos.
Texas State Men’s Basketball
Texas State men’s basketball program began in 1907. They have an all-time record of 1140-1161 and have made one NCAA Tournament appearance in the history of the program. Texas State has also won two conference championships, one in the Southwest Conference and one in the Western Athletic Conference. The Bobcats currently compete in the Sun Belt Conference.
Texas State Women’s Basketball
The Texas State Women’s Basketball team represents Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, United States. The school’s team currently competes in the Sun Belt Conference. They are currently led by head coach Zenarae Antoine and play their home games at Strahan Arena.
In 2018, the Bobcats finished the season with an overall record of 23–10, and a conference record of 13–5. They were one of four teams to receive a bye in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament. They defeated Coastal Carolina in the quarterfinals before losing to eventual champion Little Rock in the semifinals. They received an at-large bid to the Women’s National Invitation Tournament where they defeated UTEP in the first round before losing to Oklahoma State in the second round.
The 2019–20 Texas State Bobcats women’s basketball team represents Texas State University during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I women’s basketball season. The Bobcats, led by sixth-year head coach Zenarae Antoine, play their home games at Strahan Arena in San Marcos, Texas as members of the Sun Belt Conference.
Texas State Baseball
Texas State Baseball has a long and storied history, dating back to the early days of the sport. The program has produced many great players over the years, including Hall of Fame inductee Eddie Mathews. Texas State has also been a perennial power in recent years, making several trips to the NCAA Tournament.

In softball, the Texas State Bobcats compete in the NCAA Division I West Conference. The team is currently coached by Ricci Woodard, who is in her twentieth season at Texas State. The Bobcats have made seven NCAA tournament appearances and one Women’s College World Series appearance.
In baseball, the Texas State Bobcats compete in the NCAA Division I West Conference. The team is currently coached by Ty Harrington, who is in his fifth season at Texas State. The Bobcats have made nine NCAA tournament appearances and one College World Series appearance.
