Leahy is a certified physician and has been practicing sport medicine for the past decade. He completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic and his fellowship at the American College of Sports Medicine. Leahy is also a certified strength and conditioning coach and has worked with athletes of all levels.
Leahy’s experience as a Sport Medicine doctor
As a former high school and collegiate athlete, Leahy understands first-hand the importance of staying healthy and injury-free. After completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame, she attended Texas Tech University School of Medicine. She then completed her residency in family medicine at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. Following her residency, Leahy pursued her passion for sport medicine by completing a fellowship in primary care sport medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.
Dr. Leahy is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City and her fellowship in Sports Medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama.

Leahy also offers nonsurgical orthopedic care
In addition to performing surgery, Dr. Leahy provides nonsurgical orthopedic care. She focuses on the conservative management of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, with the goal of helping patients return to their prior level of function. She works closely with patients to develop individualized treatment plans that may include a combination of modalities such as medication, physical therapy, injections and bracing.

Leahy has treated professional athletes
Since opening the Institute for Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine in 2001, Dr. Leahy has treated professional athletes from the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and numerous PGA, LPGA, and NBA players. He is also the official team doctor for FC Dallas, as well as serving on the medical staffs of several local high schools and colleges.

Dr. Leahy has a passion for helping her patients live an active and healthy lifestyle. As a former collegiate athlete, she understands the importance of proper treatment and rehabilitation in order to return to competition quickly and safely. In addition to her work with recreational athletes, Dr. Leahy has also treated Olympic athletes from a variety of countries.
Leahy has treated collegiate athletes
Since joining the Texas Sport and Medicine team in 2008, Dr. Leahy has treated collegiate athletes from all over the state of Texas. He has provided care for student athletes at Baylor University, The University of Texas, Texas A&M, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, and many other schools. In addition to his work with collegiate athletes, Dr. Leahy has also been involved in the treatment of high school and youth athletes.
