The twelfth annual Texas Sport Management Symposium, presented by the University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Sports Leadership and Innovation, will be held on October 1-3, 2020 at the J.W. Marriott Austin. This year’s theme is “Elevating Your Game: Strategies for Advancing Your Career in Sport.” The symposium will feature over 30 sport industry experts who will share their knowledge and expertise on a variety of topics related to advancing your career in sport.

What is the Texas Sport Management Symposium?

The Texas Sport Management Symposium (TSMS) is a two-day event that brings together sport professionals from across the state of Texas and beyond. The symposium provides an opportunity for attendees to network, learn from each other, and expand their knowledge of the sport management industry. This year’s TSMS will be held on October 26-27 in Houston, TX.

When is it?

The 8th Annual Texas Sport Management Symposium will take place on March 3-4, 2020 at the University of Texas at Austin. The two-day event provides an opportunity for scholars and practitioners to share their research and discuss the latest issues in the field of sport management.

Dr. Kimberly McCuen is a professor in the Department of Sport Management at George Mason University. She has been a faculty member at GMU since 2007, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in sport marketing, management, and policy. Her research focuses on issues related to gender equity and diversity in sport organizations. She has published numerous articles on these topics in journals such as the International Journal of Sport Management and Marketing, Journal of Sport Management, and International Review for the Sociology of Sport.

Dr. Matthew Robinson is an associate professor in the Department of PARKS, Recreation & Tourism Management at North Carolina State University. He has been on the faculty at NC State since 2008, teaching courses in sport marketing, management, ethics, law, and event planning. His research focuses on issues related to sponsorship and corporate social responsibility in sport organizations. He has published numerous articles on these topics in journals such as Journal of Sport Management, Event Management, International Journal of Event and Festival Management, and International Journal of Sport Marketing and Sponsorship.
