Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
At Texas Sport and Family Medicine, we offer a wide range of services to help our patients achieve optimal health. Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine are two of the many services we offer.
Acupuncture is a centuries-old healing practice that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body. This helps to balance the body’s energy and promote healing. Traditional Chinese medicine is a holistic approach to health that seeks to treat the whole person, rather than just the symptoms of a disease.
Both acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine can be very effective in treating a variety of conditions, including pain, stress, anxiety, fertility issues, and more. If you are interested in exploring these modalities of care, our team at Texas Sport and Family Medicine would be happy to discuss them with you further.
Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic services are used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.
What is a chiropractor?
Chiropractors are trained as primary contact health care providers. In most jurisdictions, persons wishing to become chiropractors must attend an accredited chiropractic school and satisfy professional competence requirements.
What do chiropractors do?
Chiropractors use a variety of examination techniques such as orthopedic tests, x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, and blood tests to diagnose patients. Working with patients of all ages, they provide conservative management of conditions involving musculoskeletal and nervous system disorders, often without the use of medication or surgery. In addition to adjusting the spine and other joints, chiropractors may recommend therapeutic exercises, ergonomic changes in the workplace or home environment, nutritional counseling, stress reduction techniques, biofeedback or acupuncture.
