The History of the Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers are a professional baseball team based in Arlington, Texas, located in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) West division. In 2020, the Rangers will move to a new ballpark, Globe Life Field. The team’s name is borrowed from the famous law enforcement agency of the same name.

The franchise was established in 1961 as the Washington Senators, an expansion team awarded to Washington, D.C., after the city’s first AL team—the second Washington Senators—moved to Minnesota and became the Twins. After only one season in Washington, D.C., the franchise relocated to Arlington and was renamed the Texas Rangers. The team played its home games at Arlington Stadium from 1972 until 1993, when they moved into their current home, Globe Life Park in Arlington.

The Texas Rangers Today

The Texas Rangers are a Major League Baseball team based in Arlington, Texas, located in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. They compete in the American League West division. Since 1994, the Rangers have played their home games at Globe Life Park in Arlington. The team’s name is borrowed from the famous law enforcement agency of the same name.

The franchise was established in 1961 as the Washington Senators, an expansion team awarded to Washington, D.C., after the city’s first American League club—the second Washington Senators—moved to Minneapolis–St. Paul and became the Minnesota Twins. After two failed attempts to buy the St. Louis Browns franchise and relocate it to Washington (in 1953 and 1958), owner Calvin Griffith was awarded a new franchise for the nation’s capital that would begin play in 1961.

Griffiths’ stepson Clark Grissom has been president of the organization since 2002; he succeeded his father Gussie, who served as president from 1972 until his death in 1974. The general manager is Jon Daniels, who assumed control of baseball operations on October 4, 2005.

The Future of the Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers are a Major League Baseball team that has been based in Arlington, Texas, since 1972. The Rangers are currently in the process of rebuilding their team. They have missed the playoffs for the past two seasons and have not won a playoff series since 2011. In order to return to contention, the Rangers need to make some changes.

First, they need to shore up their pitching staff. The Rangers currently have one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball. They need to find some new pitchers that can help them win games. Second, they need to improve their offense. The Rangers were near the bottom of the league in runs scored last season. They need to find some players that can hit for power and score runs. Finally, the Rangers need to make some changes to their coaching staff. They need to find a new Manager and some new coaches that can help them turn things around.

The future of the Texas Rangers is uncertain. But if they can make some changes, they have a chance to be a very good team in the future.
