Texas A&M University’s Master of Science in Sport Management is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue or advance their careers in the sports industry. The program is offered both online and on-campus, and students can choose to focus their studies in either sport management or sport business. The curriculum covers a variety of topics, including finance, marketing, law, and ethics.
The Texas A&M Master of Science in Sport Management program is a twelve-month, non-thesis program designed to prepare graduates for careers in the sport industry. The program is offered in a cohort format and includes coursework in sport management, business, and leadership. The program culminates in a capstone project that is presented to a panel of sport industry professionals.
The Program Goals of the Master of Science in Sport Management (MSSM) are to provide students with the opportunity to develop:
-An understanding of the basic knowledge, theories, and practices associated with sport management and the sport industry;
-A proficiency in critical thinking, oral and written communication, research methods, and computer applications skills necessary to succeed as a sport management professional;
-An ability to apply theoretical principles and practical knowledge learned in the program to actual sport management problems and situations; and
-An understanding of the ethical implications associated with providing sport management services.
The Program is a full-time, on-campus degree program that consists of 36 credit hours of coursework. The Program is designed to be completed in two years (four semesters) of full-time study, although students have the option to complete the Program in a three-year (six-semester) part-time plan. All students must complete a practicum experience and a research thesis.
In order to be eligible for the program, candidates must have:
-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
-A minimum of 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale for their last 60 hours of undergraduate coursework
-GRE scores that are no more than five years old
Once all application materials have been received, the Admissions Committee will review applications and determine whether candidates will be offered admission into the program. Admission is competitive and based on a holistic review of each candidate’s file.

The Master of Science in Sport Management at Texas A&M University is a comprehensive program that prepares students for careers in the sport industry. The curriculum includes coursework in business, economics, finance, marketing, and law. In addition, students complete a practicum and a research project. The program is designed to be completed in two years.
All students in the master’s program must complete the following core courses (15 credit hours):
-KINE 637. Management of Sport Organizations
-KINE 638. Economics of Sport
-KINE 639. Sport Marketing
-KINE 640. Event and Facility Management in Sport
-KINE 641. Sport Governance
In addition to the required courses, students in the Master of Science in Sport Management program must complete six credit hours of approved elective coursework. All electives must be completed with a letter grade of “C” or better. While completing their electives, students may not take more than two courses outside their home department. A student’s home department is either Kinesiology or Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences. Please note that not all courses are offered every semester and some courses may have prerequisites. Contact your advisor for assistance in planning your course schedule.

The cost of the program is $1,200 per credit hour. There is a total of 36 credit hours required for the degree, which means the total cost of the program is $43,200.
Our programs are among the most affordable in the nation. For the 2019-2020 academic year, tuition for Texas residents is $5,719 per semester and $11,438 for non-residents; tuition for our online program is $636 per credit hour for residents and $1,272 per credit hour for non-residents.
The total cost of the program is $22,500. This includes tuition, fees, and books. Fees for the program are as follows:

-Course fees: $300 per credit hour
The Application Process
To be eligible for admission into the Master of Science in Sport Management program at Texas A&M University, you must submit the following: an online application, official transcripts, GRE scores, a resume, a goal statement, and three letters of recommendation.

-Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test scores – no subject test is required – Request that ETS send official scores to institution code 6003
-Three letters of recommendation – At least two of these letters should be from individuals who can speak to your ability to succeed in a graduate program
International applicants whose primary language is not English must submit an official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 550 on the written exam or 213 on the computerized exam or an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of at least 6.5.
The deadline to submit your application for the Master of Science in Sport Management program is December 1. All supporting documents, including transcripts and GRE scores, must be received by this date.
