We also offer Introductory Flight Lessons (IFL) which are a great way to start if you’re not sure if flying is for you. These flights are conducted in our 2-seat Cessna 150 aircraft. After the lesson, if you decide you would like to continue your training towards a pilot’s license, the cost of the IFL will be applied towards your training.

What is a Sport Pilot?

A Sport Pilot is a new category of pilot certificate created by the FAA in 2004. To fly light-sport aircraft (LSA), you must have a Sport Pilot certificate. The main difference between a Sport Pilot and a Private Pilot is that the Sport Pilot certificate limits you to flying LSAs, whereas a Private Pilot can fly any aircraft (light-sport or otherwise).

With your Sport Pilot certificate, you can fly day or night, in good weather or bad, as long as you stay within certain limits. You can carry one passenger (in some cases, two), and you can fly an LSA with up to two seats and an engine of no more than 200 horsepower. Your flight speed will be limited to 138 mph (120 knots), and you’ll be restricted to flying below 10,000 feet altitude.

What is the difference between a Sport Pilot and a Private Pilot?

A Sport Pilot can fly with a lighter aircraft and fewer hours of instruction than a Private Pilot. In general, the Sport Pilot certificate requires 20 hours of flight time, as opposed to the 40 hours required for a Private Pilot. The exact number of training hours needed may vary depending on the instructor and the student’s ability to learn.

What is the process of becoming a Sport Pilot?

The process of becoming a Sport Pilot is not as difficult as one might think. In most cases, it only takes a few weeks to complete the training and obtain the license. The first step is to find a qualified instructor. There are many flight schools that offer Sport Pilot instruction, but not all of them are created equal. It is important to do your research and make sure you find an instructor who is experienced and who has a good reputation.

Once you have found a qualified instructor, the next step is to complete the training. The training will consist of both ground school and flight time. The ground school will cover topics such as aircraft systems, aerodynamics, weather, and flight planning. The flight time will be used to actually fly the aircraft and learn how to control it. Most pilots will need between 20 and 40 hours of flight time to complete the training.

Once the training is complete, the next step is to take the Sport Pilot practical test. This test is administered by a FAA-licensed examiner and it consists of both a written and flying portion. The written portion covers topics such as airplane performance, weight and balance, aerodynamics, meteorology, airspace rules, and navigation. The flying portion requires the pilot to demonstrate various takeoff and landing procedures, as well as different maneuvers that are required for the license.

Once the practical test is successfully completed, the pilot will be issued a Sport Pilot certificate. This certificate allows the pilot to fly any aircraft that falls under the Sport Pilot category. This includes light-sport aircraft (LSAs), ultralight vehicles (UVs), powered-lift aircraft (PLA), weight-shift-control aircraft (WSCC), or gliders/sailplanes (GS).

What is the cost of training?

The average cost of flight training for a private pilot certificate is $10,000 to $15,000. The average cost of flight training for a commercial pilot certificate is $25,000 to $35,000. The average cost of flight training for an airline transport pilot certificate is $50,000 to $75,000.

What are the benefits of becoming a Sport Pilot?

There are many benefits to becoming a Sport Pilot, including the ability to fly lighter, single-engine aircraft without the need for a commercial pilot’s license.
