May is a great month for sports fans in Texas! There are plenty of professional and collegiate sports events happening all over the state, so there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Whether you’re a baseball fan, football fan, or just a fan of good old-fashioned competition, here are some of the can’t-miss sporting events happening in Texas in May:

There are a few sport events happening in Texas in May. The first event is the Texas Motor Speedway NASCAR Cup Series race. The race is happening on May 9th and will be broadcasted on Fox. The second event is the Houston Open PGA Tour golf tournament.

In May, there are several sport events happening in Texas.
In San Antonio, the Alamo City Golf Trail Classic is taking place from May 1-5. This event is a 54 hole stroke play tournament that is open to male amateur golfers who are members of the Alamo City Golf Trail.
From May 3-5, the Senior League Baseball World Series will be held in Waco. This tournament is for seniors aged 50 and over.
The Texas State High School Softball Championships will be held in Austin from May 10-11.
The Baylor Bears will host the Big 12 Baseball Tournament from May 22-26 at their home stadium in Waco.


5/11 – 5/12: Relays Marathon
The Austin Relays Marathon is a running event that includes a full marathon, half marathon, 5K and kids marathon. The course starts and ends at the University of Texas at Austin.

5/18 – 5/19: Capital of Texas Triathlon
The Capital of Texas Triathlon is an annual event that includes a sprint distance triathlon, Olympic distance triathlon, 10K run, and 5K run. The event takes place in and around Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin.

5/25 – 5/26: Memorial Day Classic Bike Ride
The Memorial Day Classic Bike Ride is an annual event that features a 100-mile ride, 100K ride, 50-mile ride, 25-mile ride, and 10-mile family ride. The event takes place in Central Texas.


Sports fans in Dallas will have plenty to keep them busy in May, with several professional and collegiate level events taking place in the city.

On May 11th, the Dallas Mavericks will take on the Houston Rockets at the American Airlines Center in what is sure to be an intense match-up. The Mavericks are currently second in the Western Conference, while the Rockets are fourth, so this could be a preview of a potential playoff series.

Later in the month, on May 25th, FC Dallas of Major League Soccer will take on rivals the Houston Dynamo at Toyota Stadium. This is always a fun match to watch, as both teams play an exciting brand of soccer and there is a lot of history between the two clubs.

If you’re more into college sports, May is also a good time to catch a University of Texas Longhorns baseball game. The Longhorns are one of the top teams in the country and always provide an entertaining game. They’ll be playing Baylor at home on May 10-12th and TCU on May 17-19th.


The end of May marks the conclusion of the Texas sports season. From high school football to professional baseball, many of the state’s most popular teams will be finishing up their seasons or starting their offseason training in preparation for next year.
