Results of the 2018 Texas 4-H Sport Shooting Games

The 2018 Texas 4-H Sport Shooting Games were held in Austin, Texas on July 20-22. Over 400 youth from around the state participated in the event.

Introduction

In September 2018, members of the Texas 4-H Sport Shooting Program competed in the annual Texas 4-H Sport Shooting Games. The Games were held at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas.

This event is the highlight of the year for our 4-H members who have spent countless hours practicing and honing their skills in order to compete at the highest level. These young people represent the best and brightest talent in the state of Texas, and we are extremely proud of their accomplishments.

The following is a list of results from the 2018 Texas 4-H Sport Shooting Games:

Results

The 2018 Texas 4-H Sport Shooting Games were held in Austin, Texas on July 13-15. The event was put on by the Texas 4-H Sport Shooting Program and sponsored by the National Rifle Association. This was the first time the games have been held in the state of Texas.

Rifle

The following are the results from the Rifle Competition at the 2018 Texas 4-H Sport Shooting Games.

First Place – 97.1
Second Place – 94.5
Third Place – 93.2

Shotgun

The shotgun event was won by Caleb Wilkins of Johnson County with a score of 97. Caleb was followed closely by Austin Dobson of Ellis County with a score of 96. Rounding out the top three was Collin Russell of Denton County with a score of 95.

Muzzleloading

1st Hayden Heath Burleson County
2nd Joey Dornak Caldwell County
3rd Mallory Popham Coleman County
4th Garrett Wade Colorado County
5th Crane Montgomery Dallas County

Archery

The 2018 Texas 4-H Sport Shooting Games were held in San Angelo, Texas on June 23-24. Archery was one of the events offered, with a total of 73 participants. The results are as follows:

6U – 10U Individual Results
1st- Blake Hernandez, Coleman County
2nd- Waylon Kothmann, Mason County
3rd- Weston Pittman, Lynn County
4th- Jase Cassity, Bailey County
5th- Tristan Burleson, Throckmorton County
6th- Kash Beasley, Shelby County

6U – 10U Team Results
1st- Coleman County 1 (Blake Hernandez and Waylon Kothmann)
2nd- Coleman County 2 (Weston Pittman and Jase Cassity)
3rd- Mason County (Tristan Burleson and Kash Beasley)

11U – 13U Individual Results
1st- Gavin Hernandez, Coleman County
2nd- Jakob Kothmann, Mason County
3rd- Easton Pittman, Lynn County
4th- Colt Cassity, Bailey County
5th- Sawyer Burleson, Throckmorton County

11U – 13U Team Results:
1st – Coleman county (Gavin Hernandez and Jakob Kothmann) 2nd – Lynn county (Easton Pittman and Colt Cassity) 3rd– Mason county (Sawyer Burleson)

Conclusion

After another busy and successful year of 4-H sport shooting competitions, we want to thank all of our supporters. The 2018 Texas 4-H Sport Shooting Games would not be possible without the help of businesses, organizations, volunteers and families who give their time and resources. It is through your generosity that these youth have the opportunity to develop important life skills.
