The Kettlebell Sport Texas Competition was held on October 6, 2018, in Austin, Texas. This was the first Kettlebell Sport competition in Texas and it was a great success!

Introduction

The Kettlebell Sport Texas Competition 2018 will be held on Saturday, November 10th, 2018 at the Austin Sports Center in Austin, TX. This will be a one day competition with events starting at 9:00am and ending no later than 5:00pm. We anticipate having between 75-100 athletes competing in this event.

What is Kettlebell Sport?

Kettlebell Sport is a competitive sport that involves lifting kettlebells of varying weights in specific sequences. The sport originated in Russia and has been gaining popularity around the world in recent years.

There are two disciplines within Kettlebell Sport: Jerk and Snatch. In Jerk, the athlete lifts the kettlebell overhead in two hands and then lowers it back down to the ground. In Snatch, the athlete lifts the kettlebell overhead in one hand and then lowers it back down to the ground.

The goal of Kettlebell Sport is to lift as much weight as possible within a set time period. Competition kettlebells typically range from 8 kg (18 lb) to 48 kg (106 lb).
