History of FM Sport Radio
FM Sport Radio is El Paso’s home for sports talk. The station first went on the air in August of 1997 as “FM 105.3, The Team”. It was El Paso’s first and only 24-hour sports talk station. The station was originally owned by Clear Channel Communications. In 2000, the station was sold to Univision Radio and became “105.3 The Fan”.
How did FM Sport Radio get started?
In the fall of 2006, four friends – all passionate sports fans – got together and decided they wanted to start a sports radio station in El Paso, Texas. They had no idea how to get started, but they were determined to make their dream a reality.
After months of research and planning, they finally launched FM Sport Radio on January 1, 2007. The station quickly became the go-to place for sports talk in El Paso, featuring local hosts who knew and loved the teams that their listeners did.
FM Sport Radio has come a long way since those early days, but our commitment to being the best source for sports talk in El Paso hasn’t changed. We’re still your home for everything sports, and we’re still 100% locally owned and operated.
