The Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most iconic teams in all of American sports. The team has a rich history dating back to 1960, when they were founded as an expansion team. The Cowboys have won five Super Bowls, 10 conference championships, and 22 division championships. They are also the only team in NFL history to have 20 consecutive winning seasons. The Cowboys play their home games at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which is one of the largest stadiums in the world.
The San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs are an American professional basketball team based in San Antonio, Texas. The Spurs compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league’s Western Conference Southwest Division. The team plays its home games at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
The Spurs began play as an expansion team in 1967. In their 51 seasons of existence, the Spurs have amassed 22 division titles. With their 50th win in the 2015–16 season, the Spurs extended their record for most consecutive 50-win seasons to 18. As of the 2019–20 season, the Spurs have an all-time winning percentage of .607 (second only to the Boston Celtics), which is the highest winning percentage among active NBA teams.
The Texas Rangers
The Texas Rangers are a professional baseball team based in Arlington, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) West division. Since 1994, the Rangers’ home ballpark has been Globe Life Park in Arlington. The team’s name is borrowed from the famous law enforcement agency of the same name.
The franchise was established in 1961 as the Washington Senators, an expansion team awarded to Washington, D.C., after the city’s first American League ballclub—the second Washington Senators—moved to Minneapolis–Saint Paul and became the Minnesota Twins. After the 1971 season, the new Senators moved to Arlington, debuted as the Rangers the following spring. The Rangers were consolidated with relationships with previous Senators owner George W. Bush and two of his fellow investors/co-owners described below; by late 2010, Chuck Greenberg had become majority owner with approximately 61 percent of team ownership passing to him after a successful bidding process occurred following Hicks’ decision to put the franchise up for sale in early 2010.
Nolan Ryan was hired as CEO prior to the start of the 2005 season after serving as president since 2002. Tom Grieve was promoted to executive vice president/general manager prior to 2005 and served as GM through 2007 before being replaced by Jon Daniels on October 4, 2007; Daniels had been appointed assistant GM under Grieve on June 26, 2006. On November 8, 2013, Ryan stepped down as CEO but remained with the organization as team president and added the title of co-owner on March 12, 2014 when he joined Bob Simpson as an equal partner with ownership stake in both entities managed by Greenberg-led investment firms Perry Capital LLC and Rangers Baseball Express LLC respectively.
