2. Culverou Vineyards – This picturesque vineyard is located in Driftwood, TX and offers a breathtaking view of the Hill Country. They produce several types of red wine, including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah.
3. Duchman Family Winery – Duchman Family Winery is located in Driftwood, TX and is known for their Italian-style wines. Their most popular varieties include Vermentino, Sangiovese, and Aglianico.

1. William Chris Vineyards 2018 Grenache Blanc, $28
Located in Hye, this 100% Grenache Blanc offers bright aromas of Meyer lemon, honeysuckle, and white peach. On the palate, expect more Meyer lemon, white peach, and a touch of honeydew melon. The acidity is nicely balancing and the finish lingers with a bit of minerality.
2. Fall Creek Vineyards 2017 Merlot Reserve, $32
From one of Texas’ oldest family-owned vineyards comes this elegant Merlot boasting aromas of dark fruits, tobacco, and chocolate. The palate brings flavors of black cherry, dark chocolate, and espresso bean with just enough tannin to give it some beautiful structure. It’s a real head-turner!
3. Perissos Vineyard & Winery 2017 Estate Grown Tempranillo, $30
Another Family-owned vineyard (this one in Burnet), Perissos offers up a Tempranillo that shows some real Texas terroir. Aromas of blackberry pie and violets give way to flavors of dark fruits and spice with just a hint of oak on the finish. This wine is already drinking beautifully but will continue to improve over the next several years.
4. Lewis Wines 2016 Nebbiolo Rosato dissolved CO2 Method sparkling wine $28
From across the state in Alpine comes this beautiful Nebbiolo Rosato that was made using the Charmat/tank method instead of secondary fermentation in the bottle (which is most common for sparkling wines). Aromas and flavors of strawberries and raspberries abound in this dry wine that has excellent acidity and alightly creamy mouthfeel from the extended time on lees (yeast cells). It’s an outstanding example of what Texas can do with this grape!
5. Bending Branch Winery 2014 Tannat Reserve Estate Grown, $48
One of Texas’ top producers located in Comfort is Bending Branch Winery and their 2014 Tannat Reserve is one not to miss! This big wine opens with aromas of dark fruits, chocolate, smoking meats, and graphite which all carry through to the palate along with some additional spice notes. With firm tannins and excellent acidity, this wine will age beautifully for many years to come but is drinking great now if you give it some time to breath first.
6. Becker Vineyards 2016 Petite Sirah Reserve Estate Grown $38
From Fredericksburg comes another great Petite Sirah from Becker Vineyards . Aged for 18 months in new French Oak barrels , this wine shows beautiful aromas roasting meats , blackberries , plums , violets , chocolate ,and espresso . The palate doesn’t disappoint either with more dark fruits , chocolate , espresso , plus a touch of vanilla from the oak . It’s well-balanced with firm yet approachable tannins making it a great food pairing wine . 7 . Duchman Family Winery NV Montepulciano d’Abruzzo $22 One always expects big things from Duchman Family Winery out Dripping Springs but sometimes their non – vintage releases are even better then their single – vineyard or reserve wines . Case – in point is their NV Montepulciano d’Abruzzo which drinks way above its price point . It has all the characteristics one would want in Montepulciano – intense ruby color , aromas and flavors of ripe red fruits , spice ,violets ,and chocolate 8 Escondido Valley Vineyards 2015 Malbec Stonewallkners Ranch Estate Grown 95 points If you’re looking for proof that Malbec can do well in Texas then look no further then Escondido Valley’s 2015 Malbec Stonewallkners Ranch . Grown on slopes overlooking Lake LBJ at an elevation close to 1000 feet above mean sea level this vineyard imparts an elegance often lacking in other New World examples 9 Inwood Estates 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Double Eagle Cuvee Lubbock 97 points Inwood Estates makes some truly outstanding wines and their 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Double Eagle Cuvee might just be their best yet . Blended from 85 % Cabernet Sauvignon 8 % Merlot 4 % Petit Verdot 3 % Cabernet Franc it was aged for 22 months in 100 % new French Oak barrels before being bottled unfined and unfiltered 10 McPherson Cellars 2015 Viognier Les Copains White Bluff Vineyard 99 points Rounding out our list is McPherson Cellars 2015 Viognier Les Copains White Bluff Vineyard coming in at a whopping 99 points !
