Academy Sports + Outdoors is excited to announce the grand opening of its newest store in Austin, Texas. The new store is located at 9607 Research Boulevard, just off of Highway 183 in north Austin.
The new Academy Sports + Outdoors Austin store is approximately 71,000 square feet and offers a wide selection of sporting goods and outdoor gear for the whole family. Customers can find everything they need for their next camping or hiking trip, including tents, sleeping bags, air mattresses, and more. The store also has a large firearms department with a wide variety of firearms and ammunition for hunting and target shooting. In addition, customers can take advantage of the on-site archery range to test out their new bows before making a purchase.
The Austin store is the latest addition to Academy Sports + Outdoors’ growing portfolio of stores in Texas. With this grand opening, Academy now operates 157 stores across 16 states.

New Store in Austin, Texas
Academy Sports + Outdoors is proud to announce the grand opening of its new store in Austin, Texas. The new Academy Sports + Outdoors Austin location will offer residents in the area an unbeatable selection of sports, outdoors and active lifestyle products at everyday low prices.
“We are thrilled to be opening our newest store in Austin,” said Ken Fortune, Academy Sports + Outdoors president and CEO. “This location allows us to better serve our customers in the Austin area and provide them with access to the quality products and great values they have come to expect from Academy.”
The new Academy Sports + Outdoors Austin store is located at 9600 South IH 35 Frontage Road. The grand opening celebration will begin Thursday, March 2, with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:45 a.m., followed by doors opening to the public at 10:00 a.m. Store hours will be Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
