We are proud to announce that Academy Sports + Outdoors has promoted Matt Stith to the position of Regional Manager for our Texas stores. In his new role, Matt will oversee store operations for the entire state of Texas.

New regional manager for Texas

Academy Sports + Outdoors is excited to announce that Brandon Castro has been named regional manager for Texas. In this role, Brandon will be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team across all Academy stores in the state.

Brandon has been with Academy for 10 years, most recently serving as district manager in San Antonio. He has a proven track record of success in leading teams and driving results. We are confident that he will be a great addition to our leadership team in Texas.

Improved customer service

Academy Sports + Outdoors is proud to announce that it has named Holly Terry as its new Regional Manager for Texas. Holly brings with her a wealth of customer service experience, having spent the last 15 years working in various customer-facing roles.

In her new role, Holly will be responsible for leading and motivating a team of Academy Sports + Outdoors associates to provide our customers with the best possible shopping experience. She will also be working closely with our store managers to ensure that our stores in Texas are running smoothly and efficiently.

Greater efficiency

Academy Sports + Outdoors has announced that Darren Mitchell will be the new regional manager for Texas. Mitchell will oversee all aspects of the company’s operations in the state, including stores, e-commerce, and distribution centers.

The move is part of Academy’s ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Under Mitchell’s leadership, the company expects to improve its performance in Texas by better aligning its resources with customer demand.

” Darren is a proven leader with a track record of success in retail,” said Academy CEO Ken Hicks. “We are confident that he is the right person to lead our team in Texas and help us continue to deliver on our promise to be the destination for sports, outdoor, and lifestyle products.”

Mitchell has more than 20 years of experience in the retail industry, most recently serving as senior vice president of operations for J.C. Penney Company. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Auburn University.

What this means for the customers

The company said the move was in response to the state’s growing population and “economic momentum.” It plans to add more locations in Texas in the future. The news comes as the retailer faces increased competition from the likes of Amazon and Walmart.

Better products

Academy Sports + Outdoors today announced it has hired Bill Mitchell as the company’s new regional manager for Texas. In this role, Mitchell will be responsible for all aspects of Academy’s business in the state, including store operations, merchandising, marketing and e-commerce.

Mitchell brings more than 30 years of retail experience to his new role at Academy. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of stores for Sam’s Club, where he was responsible for a $16 billion business with more than 600 locations. Prior to that, he held leadership positions with Walmart, Target and Macy’s.

“I am excited to join Academy at such an exciting time for the company,” said Mitchell. “I look forward to working with the talented team in Texas to continue providing athletes and outdoor enthusiasts with the best products and service.”

More personalized service

Academy Sports + Outdoors has announced that it has named Craig Wetherington as the company’s new regional manager for Texas.

In this role, Wetherington will be responsible for leading and developing the Academy team in Texas, as well as supporting the company’s growth initiatives in the state. He will report to Mark Erceg, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Wetherington brings more than 20 years of retail experience to his new role at Academy, most recently serving as district manager for J.C. Penney in Dallas/Fort Worth. He has also held leadership positions with Sears Holdings, The Save-A-Lot Food Stores and Target Corporation.

“We are excited to have Craig join our team,” said Erceg. “His extensive experience in retail operations, merchandising and store management will be a valuable asset as we continue to execute our growth strategy in Texas.”
