Texas State is starving for fan support.
Outside of a sold-out crowd in the home opener last year against Texas Tech, the Bobcats failed to pull more than 18,000 people inside Bobcat Stadium the rest of the year. An announced crowd of 33,006 watched as Texas State debuted its newly-renovated stadium in a 58-10 loss to the Red Raiders.
Take a look at attendance numbers from the 2012 season.
- Texas Tech — 33,006
- Stephen F. Austin — 17,188
- Louisiana Tech — 17,184
- Idaho — 16,973
- New Mexico State — 15,108
- Nevada — 14,210
While the Bobcats’ 2013 home slate doesn’t feature any ‘name’ teams like Texas Tech, the batch of opponents coming to San Marcos should provide enough fodder for a few wins. Texas State opens tomorrow night against Prairie View A&M, then will host Wyoming (Sept. 28), a three-game homestand features Louisiana-Monroe (Oct. 12), Georgia State (Oct. 19) and South Alabama (Oct. 26), then Western Kentucky (Nov. 23) wraps it up.
What do you think average home attendance will be for 2013 home games?
