While Texas State is waiting on a few contracts to be finalized before releasing its 2013-14 men’s basketball schedule, a few games are known.
There will be several ‘return games’ on the slate, meaning the Bobcats will finish home-and-home deals with the likes of Oral Roberts, Southern Methodist University and the University of Utah. Those games will be on the road for Texas State, as the program enters its first season under the direction of Danny Kaspar.
Another game on the docket is a clash with Kaspar’s former team, Stephen F. Austin. Former head coach Doug Davalos set up that game before the Bobcats let him go, so Kaspar wasn’t out for blood or revenge.
Texas State can only have two guarantee games due to Sun Belt Conference regulations and those will be against the University of Houston (season opener) and the usual bludgeoning by the University of Texas.
Fans should also expect a home game with UT-Tyler and the Bobcats to take a Thanksgiving trip to Mexico for an unnamed tournament. Last year Texas State went to the Great Alaska Shootout.
