A 17-day search for Doug Davalos’ replacement ended Thursday morning.

Texas State hired former Stephen F. Austin head coach Danny Kaspar to lead its men’s basketball program into the Sun Belt Conference. Kaspar led the Lumberjacks to a 27-5 record in 2012-13, won the Southland Conference regular-season title and lost in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.

A little more than two weeks ago, the Bobcats chose not to renew Davalos’ contract. Davalos had been at Texas State for seven years and went 92-107 as head coach.

Texas State paid Parker Executive Search $50,000 to help with the pursuit.

Prior to his stint at SFA, Kaspar spent nine seasons as head coach at Incarnate Word. Kaspar is 438-188 overall.

An introductory press conference with Kaspar is set for 2 p.m.
