College Athletics: Economic impact

Texas State wasn’t the only entity to benefit from its first home game as an official member of the Football Bowl Subdivision.

Bars on The Square hit an all-time high in sales. In total, downtown’s nightlife district pulled in $250,000.

The Tap Room, a popular bar and restaurant just off The Square, cleaned up too and had its best Saturday in history.

If the Bobcats continue to bring in high-profile opponents, business will continue to boom in San Marcos.
