A fearless YouTube user uploaded last Saturday’s game between Texas State and Texas Tech in its entirety. Watch it, if you want, before it’s taken down.
Complexion of the game changed when … the Bobcats failed to recover the short kickoff by the Red Raiders (14:45 mark of the video). Texas State only trailed 7-0 at that moment, but Texas Tech gobbled up the ball and scored soon after to go up 14-0. The Bobcats’ up-backs need to be smarter. Texas State junior returner Andy Erickson had to run all the way up from the 15-yard line in an attempt to maintain possession.
Play of the game (Texas State edition): Sophomore running back Terrence Franks making something out of nothing on a busted screen pass (58:30 mark of the video). Everything went wrong on the play: junior quarterback Tyler Arndt threw it behind Franks, two linemen missed their blocks and the sophomore running back was left in no-man’s land. Franks cut against the grain, got a pair of good blocks (Erickson and Mike Yoder) and picked up a first down on 3rd-and-10. If Texas Tech safety Cody Davis wasn’t in the way, Franks had a good chance to score.
