Did it seem like Texas Tech played with a bit of a chip on its shoulder in Saturday’s game with Texas State? According to Red Raiders linebacker Terrance Bullitt, that was exactly the case.
“All week we felt disrespected about this game,” Bullitt told the Dallas Morning News. “Big 12 upset alert. We were going to lose. We saw it on College GameDay. We responded to the challenge and went out there and played our butts off.”
Bullitt also mentioned a perceived disrespect from Texas State, despite no Bobcat players sounding off prior to Saturday’s game. Texas State consistently said it respected the Red Raiders and moved on from its upset win two weeks ago over Houston.
“It was disrespectful how they were to us,” Bullitt said. “We didn’t say anything all week, but now we won and we showed them, ‘Hey we’re in the Big 12, so if you’re going to come play us, you’ve got to put your big boy pants on.’”
Bullitt had two tackles and broke up a pass in Texas Tech’s 58-10 win.

ehh…I’m sure no Bobcat players said anything but the Tech players some how misunderstood the hype and someone probably mentioned that they think they heard a Bobcat player say this and next thing you know it spreads like wildfire throughout the locker room (typical rumor progression). Coaches probably caught wind of it too and did nothing to stop it probably one of those neither going to confirm or deny it. A smart thing on their part since they know it would fire up their players even more (heck, they probably started it). Regardless, it worked as those guys were clearly fired up to play this game, you could see lots of energy on the field especially after a play was over.
