Wednesday morning marked the third day in full pads for the Texas State Bobcats. It was the first day in full pads since the scrimmage Monday morning.
On with the notes…
- Wasn’t impressed with the intensity of Wednesday’s practice. You’d think the Bobcats would have more fire when in full pads.
- Despite the lack of intensity, there were a few good hits. Junior wide receiver Andy Erickson received the brunt of two shots, one from sophomore safety Tyler Chase and another from freshman linebacker Jerrid Jeter-Gilmon. Erickson, who is listed generously at 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, is an incredibly tough receiver. No wonder why Texas State uses him in the slot.
- Junior quarterback Tyler Arndt had the Pass of the Day for the second consecutive practice. Arndt rifled a throw in between two defenders to redshirt freshman wide receiver Jafus Gaines on a third-down drill. Gaines held on as he fell to the ground, giving the first-string offense a first down.
- Senior linebacker Brian Lilly and senior tight end Chase Harper got into a scrap. This was Lilly’s second fight of the preseason. Lilly took the field late on a passing play and threw Harper to the ground after the ball was snapped. Harper took exception and followed Lilly down the field. They had to be separated after a few “punches” were thrown.
