Welcome to the FBS!

Goodbye, Southland Conference. Hello, Western Athletic Conference.

More importantly, welcome to the Football Bowl Subdivision, Texas State.

“There isn’t anywhere else to go but FBS,” Texas State Director of Athletics Dr. Larry Teis said. “Now that we’re here, it’s one of those deals where you can never go back. It was a big and needed jump for this university.”

None of the Bobcats’ programs will notice a bigger difference from the move than the football team.

No longer is Texas State among the have-nots of college football. The Bobcats now have an equal number of scholarships, a veteran coach and an updated stadium that will hold approximately 30,000 warm bodies come Sept. 8.

Texas State opens its first season as an official member of the FBS on Sept. 1 in Houston.
