College Baseball: McVaney owns SFA

Here is a game plan Texas State should have followed prior to this afternoon’s game against Stephen F. Austin.

A: Clone senior outfielder Jeff McVaney.

B: Repeat Step A seven times.

C: Put redshirt freshman Taylor Black on the mound.

D: Profit.

With how McVaney dominated the Lumberjacks in his career, it would have been a safe game plan.

Entering today’s game, McVaney was 21-of-43 with five home runs and 11 runs batted in against SFA. Not bad, right?

McVaney continued his ownership of the Lumberjacks this afternoon with two home runs and five RBI. His grand slam in the eighth inning put the Bobcats up 7-6.

“You actually do know about it when you come into a game with some extra confidence,” McVaney said. “I’ve had their number since my sophomore year.”
