College Football: Arndt done for season

Texas State’s disappointing season took another turn for the worse Sunday afternoon.

The Bobcats learned true freshman quarterback Tyler Arndt, who limped off the field after Saturday’s game with Northwestern State, tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament and will be out for the season. Arndt sustained the injury when he planted his right foot to turn the corner against the Demons on a run late in the fourth quarter.

Texas State will now turn to redshirt sophomore Tim Hawkins to lead the offense. In five games this season, Hawkins has completed 9.1 percent of his passes for 11 yards and two interceptions.

The Bobcats travel to No. 4 Stephen F. Austin this Saturday.

For more, be sure to check out tomorrow’s print edition of the Daily Record.

College Football: A lot of movement in my TSN Top 25 ballot this week

There was a new No. 1 team on my ballot this week after Delaware fell to William & Mary by a point.

It’s not Appalachian State. Nor is it William & Mary.

Ladies and gentlemen, say ‘Hello,’ to the new No. 1 team, Jacksonville State.

Appalachian State stays at No. 2 with William & Mary creeping its way up to No. 3. The Blue Hens, who have one of the toughest schedules in the FCS, dropped to No. 4 while Stephen F. Austin rounds out the Top 5.

To see the rest of the poll, check back in tomorrow.
